HSC Examinees Vow to Continue Movement Until Minister Steps Down
Students protesting over various demands related to the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations have again demanded the resignation of Education Minister Dr. A N M Ehsanul Haque Milon. At a press conference held at the Science Lab intersection in Dhaka on Thursday (July 16), they said their movement would continue until the minister stepped down.
Speaking at the press conference, Md. Rayan, an HSC examinee from Ideal College in Dhanmondi, said the day's protest programme had been withdrawn because of heavy rain and the inconvenience caused to the public.
The students said they were not protesting against the government. Instead, they said they were seeking the government's cooperation to address their concerns. They alleged that despite knowing the situation, the Education Minister was creating uncertainty over the future of an entire HSC batch.
The protesters also announced that only people carrying identity cards (ID cards) would be allowed to join future programmes. They claimed that those who shouted slogans calling for the government's downfall and attempted to create disorder during previous demonstrations were outsiders and not part of their movement.

Responding to questions about the "Broiler Chicken Party" Facebook page, which has received attention on social media, the students said they had no connection with it. They said they had not joined the movement for political purposes but had taken to the streets to press for what they described as their legitimate demands. They added that the movement would continue until those demands were fulfilled.
The protesters reiterated three key demands. They want the passing mark to be determined by combining the marks obtained in the multiple-choice question (MCQ) and creative question (CQ) examinations. They also called for another opportunity for students who were unable to sit for the examinations for various reasons. In addition, they repeated their demand for the resignation of the Education Minister.
The protesting students have said they will continue their movement until their demands are addressed, while future programmes are expected to be announced by the organisers.
