The remaining Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations in five districts under the Chattogram Education Board have been postponed indefinitely due to the ongoing impact of flooding.

The decision was announced in a notice signed by Professor Syed Akhtaruzzaman, President of the Bangladesh Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee, at around 12:00 am on Thursday (July 16).

According to the notice, the postponement was made after reviewing the post-flood situation in the affected districts. Officials said they considered the overall conditions in the flood-hit areas, the physical and mental well-being of examinees, discussions with relevant stakeholders, and transport difficulties caused by damaged roads.

Under the decision, all remaining HSC examinations of the Chattogram Education Board have been postponed until further notice. The same applies to the Alim examinations under the Bangladesh Madrasah Education Board, as well as the HSC (BMT), HSC (Vocational), and Diploma in Commerce examinations under the Bangladesh Technical Education Board in the affected districts.

Authorities said a revised examination schedule will be announced later.

The notice also confirmed that examinations under all other education boards across the country will continue according to the existing schedule. Likewise, Madrasah Education Board and Technical Education Board examinations in districts outside the five affected areas under the Chattogram Education Board will be held as planned.

The latest decision extends an earlier suspension of examinations in the same five districts, which had already been postponed until July 16 because of flooding.

The postponement affects thousands of students in the flood-hit areas while allowing examinations to continue without disruption in the rest of the country. Education authorities are expected to announce new examination dates once conditions improve in the affected districts.
